- Life expectancy is greater for females than for males frequently in all age groups, and this explains the large number of widows for females in the last stages of life.
- Significant decline in child mortality explains most of the increase in life expectancy.
Because of the rise in average life expectancy to the rapid progress made in the field of human resistance to disease, especially infectious (antibiotics).
