With respect to environmental issues and the Unit Alternative Energy and Environmental Research in Palestine Polytechnic University and since its inception as follows:
1. The first Palestinian environmental scientific conference between 28 and 29 April 2000, where the turnout was unrivaled by all governmental and non-governmental and private institutions and specialists were presented nearly eighty worksheet. 2. To achieve the policy of unity in the building and strengthening of national capacity in environmental topics has been the Unit and through its staff of the Palestinian capacity building in the environmental assessment by holding specialized workshops for all national institutions to coordinate the project. The two workshops held in Ramallah and Gaza, and in cooperation with the Environmental Assessment Center at the British University of Manchester and through technical assistance to the Mediterranean basin and the World Bank-funded program.
3. The unit in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme and the application of environmental awareness programs that lead to increased environmental awareness among the citizens in dealing with all the things that can cause environmental damage or health of the citizens themselves. Because the water of the most important elements that we desperately need to keep them from pollution, it has the Unit design and implementation of environmental awareness program in Hebron, which included activities such as maintenance of water lines within the samples that have been had from various domestic, commercial and industrial sectors, where the student groups from the University accompanied by expert admins field visits and examination of the leak in the water and treatment systems to reduce the loss. In addition to this has been taking various samples were tested in the laboratory of the water unit and analysis of the information collected. 4. The implementation of the second phase of environmental awareness program with funding from and in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme, which has been through the training of cadres of teachers in public and private schools and schools of the agency on some of the concepts of environmental science and the use of the Special Unit laboratories examine water quality and on private teaching students ways schools on environmental concepts. The outputs of the program was a series of projects that have been implemented in schools in Hebron under the supervision of cadres unity of university professors have also been the development of an environmental handbook printed in cooperation with the United Nations Development Programme.
